Early on Friday morning, deputies responded to the Excel Inn and Suites on Warrenton Road to execute an arrest warrant on 33-year-old Stafford resident Markus Collins, who has been on a rampage for weeks since the weather began warming up.
Collins was wanted for:
- Possession of a firearm by a felon;
- Possession of ammunition by a felon;
- Two counts of possession of controlled substances while in possession of a firearm;
- Three counts of possession of controlled substances;
- Possession with intent to distribute controlled substances while in possession of a firearm;
- Possession with intent to distribute, and a capias charge.
According to the sheriff's office, detectives learned that Collins was at the motel, and they "flooded the area and waited for the perfect opportunity to detain him."
Collins was spotted getting into a rideshare vehicle shortly after 7:30 a.m. on June 21, at which point deputies closed in and took him into custody without further incident.
He was arrested and is now being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
